These aren’t the hopping parties you keep not getting invited to, but these are gatherings of computers in order to network with others. Whether you all end up working together or not, these communities of computers will work together to help you share a network with others who think the way you do.

Linking up With Others

When you have a computer, you’re not just playing with yourself when you’re there, you want to go into the virtual playground and play with others. Whether this is through games or it’s something where you read the information someone else has posted, you want to find out what OTHERS have to say when you’re on the computer. And that means you need to link up with others. Over the Internet, this is easy and instant, with you being connected to others as soon as you are online, even if you don’t realize it. But when you’re linking up with actual computers, you not only gain access to the Internet, but you can also link up with the files on other computers as well as direct questions to the others in the network.

Brainstorming and Aid

If you’re all sitting in the same room with the computers, your LAN party can really begin. As you are computing, you can ask others about what you’re doing, what direction you should take, etc. Having people around to give you advice will help you to boost your online experience, or you can simply find out if someone else needs a soda. Having the community around you can be even more intense when you are all doing the same thing – i.e. all playing the same role playing game. This will allow you to work together, not just in the virtual landscape. You can shout out to others and give ideas so that you win in your battles with others.

Finding a LAN Party

You might want to head to the local computer store to find out where a LAN party might be held in your area. If this is something you can’t seem to find, you might be able to connect online, or you might want to start this sort of party on your own. IN doing so, you will be able to connect with others. You will also be able to create teams and think tanks to take over the world – just like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Or you can just nerd out on the computers, building new computers and networks until you can’t make things any faster or smarter.

While LAN parties might not have hot chicks at them, they can certainly give you a chance to be with others who not only respect you, but also want to do the same sorts of things you do. And that’s just too fantastic for a loner like you.
